Hi all!
after a 6 month pause I'm back working with Cognos again.
Please expect some posts on how to build a dashboard and how to solve incremental cube building with Transformer.

I just wanted to leave an encouraging comment - I think it's FABULOUS that you are doing this site. I don't think I've seen one like it anywhere else. I hope you keep doing it. I've been looking for information on DMR for awhile now, and your site is the only place that even comes close to covering it. I'm wondering how to alert more Cognos developers about the site.PRASANNA said...

I am surprised, amazed, and grateful for people like you who are so generous with their knowledge. Again, THANK YOU!
I'm a novice about MDX, but I understood, after many hours, that my calculated measure was to be a mix between value and tuple, but it's been difficult to find the right page on the net. Your blog on that is the best one. Clear and simple.
Any chance you'll do a post on semi-additive fact? We have 800,000 products on 500 locations and would like to maintain on-hand balances daily.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if 'last period' aggregate rule in FM work for missing rows?
Great site - thank you for sharing your knowledge.

cognos is changing course on every release as speak, thus, do you think you will publish your " Cognos Book" anytime soon? :)
ReplyDeleteNo... it won't come anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteAny comment or tips for setting up default schema for tearadta data source in congnos connection. SQL server just work fine but having issues in teradata. Many companies have different database/schema name across environment. e.g. pubs_dev, pubs_test, pubs_prod. I don't want to change schema name in FM everytime I deploy package from one environment to another.
ReplyDeleteon 8.3 it is easier to deal with multiple environments than on 8.2
ReplyDeleteI don't know about 8.4
One thing to consider is how many Cognos environments do you have.
If you provide more details I may be able to advise you further.
Easiest is to keep the Cognos datasource name and just switch where it points to... but that may not work for you if you need DEV, TEST, PROD etc. simultaniously
