Jasper Reports

It's somewhat off-topic but recently I've been working with Jasper Reports which free and open-source and its capabilities blow my mind.
I can see why Cognos is easier to use in some cases... on the other hand you need to look at the price-benefit ratio too!
Is there anyone into open-source BI?

  1. Hi Tamas,

Have U ever faced with creating a report based on two cubes (i'm having tm1 cubes as source)?

Have U handle it? Did U try merging techniques?

    I need some knowledge :)

  2. yes

the trick is to use some macro expressions to transform the same prompt value into two different MUNs.
You then basically use two crosstabs - one from each cube - and just visually align them on the layout. I think you can use a list to do the alignment.

It's possible but very cumbersome... though I would think it's a common use case.

  3. You can Google 'BIRT' which is an open-source BI project.
